Believing in yourself is the first step to getting anything done. Such as this week I made a number of site changes, design twinks and most of all, writing content. There is no question or doubt in my mind, the very moment your reading this, the site doesn’t look really active. Trust me when I tell you that when I look at my Google Analytic data, that traffic is going up. When I opened it back up after months of simply not caring it said my traffic rate was down by 89%!
No shock there, there was a time where I would post everyday for a week and then the next week I got lazy and before long the month was over. Those who might have followed me on Twitter of even YouTube might have just wonder. What the hell happened? Well this week I’m gonna round-up all the little news and bits that generally bore most people. Saturday is a special day because it’s the one day of the week where I write two post!
Taking it Back!
The very first thing, or goal I would suppose you could say I try to reach this week was; Post more design less. I knew what I wanted design wise. I just let things get small and focused on the how does my site look vs the content I put out. Most of the content wasn’t bad, but too much of it was just old. There was Majin Planet’s blog, most of that is pointless and out-of-date now. Then there is the old Richard Arellano blog I made in 2009, which some post carried over to this site for months with NO point what so ever.
The point is this; It was time to clean house, like anyone would do, you take out the junk you no longer use and bring in something new. In my case it was writing new content that was good and well crafted. Not just searching for endless movie news and reposing what someone already wrote.
The Schedule
In a nut shell I did a number of things this week to help me figure out what I want to write about. I had to figure out what it was I wanted to write about and once I did it was time to put myself on a schedule that I could keep.
- Monday 8:00am – Post a general topic, focus on what I might talk about that week. This could be one of the most important topics of the week or a personal post about how I’m doing. Leaving the creative light-ball on.
- Tuesday 8:00am – My passion has been for many years Web Design, I want to write something about this. They can he how to guides to just talking about the overall picture of it. Sharing what I’ve gather since 1996.
- Wednesday 8:00am – I love writing, I know it might not seem like it but something I did from 2004 to 2010 was write this really nice story called Unrivaled Wars. I have so many stories I wrote. This is the time I love to share them. I might also talk about just writing in general.
- Thursday 8:00am – Game day! Yeah as you know I write a lot about World of Warcraft. That doesn’t mean I don’t do other stuff like Xbox, hell even Sports. This post will just be something I want to talk about gaming related for that week.
- Friday 8:00am – Review day! I’ll try to write something different each week. I might even start doing Video Reviews of some kind.
- Saturday 8:00am – The general round-up of the week. Sometimes there are updates to the site or just things I need to say, sort of like the weekly report of news. Basically this would be that post!
- Saturday 5:45pm – But that doesn’t mean I’ll leave you all with out something fresh. This post will be pretty much my wild card slot. You’ll never know what I might put out.
- Sunday 8:00am – You know the weekend is over, sometimes you just need to relax. I’m gonna take this day to simple write something
Basically this is what I’m going for at the moment. Really, I think I can bring you the best content out of me, as I think I’ve done. Sure not many have noticed yet. Traffic has been slowly going up, I’ve gone from 20-50 daily views to over 320 now, going form 2-3 visitors to 25 visitors as of 2 days ago. I think that on it self proves that this site has what it takes. I plan on doing more than just being great.. I’ll be UNRIVALED.
Lastly, I’ve been working on some issues, I’m not sure if people are able to comment, if the spam protection features I’ve added to keep out those annoying pointless comments that come in out and those with value such as yours in. Also some features don’t work as I wish for them too, such as Lightbox does not work as I want it too. It clashes with the Further Reading section. Also one of the ads I run form a number of CPC networks causes the site to break. I’m not sure which one it is yet. I only saw it happen in FireFox, so it might be related to just that.
