What is NeckarUnrivaled.com About?
NeckarUnrivaled.com has been many things since it first went live in 2009. While the focus of the site has shifted around the goal has always been the same; that is to bring the best content, the best design and most of all to have fun doing it!
Today, NeckarUrnivaled.com has shifted into a gaming blog, focusing mainly on World of Warcraft. There are plans for Diablo III content as well as Star Wars to come. There might even be plans to cover other games such as Rift, Guild Wars 2 and such.
About The NU
The NU is an online persona I created over the years starting back in 2000. I used to actively role play Star Wars online, using the online name Darth Unrivaled, which simply was a character name. I took on the name Neckar Unrivaled in 2005 after I moved on from Star Wars role play and just role play in general.
Neckar is the name of a long river, mainly flowing through the southwestern state of Baden-Württemberg, but also a short section through Hesse, in Germany. Funny thing is I did not know this when I came up with it.
In 2007 someone as a joke on the old Majin Planet forums “Don’t mess with the Neckar Unrivaled” I thought it was funny and started to go with it, talking about it in the 3rd person. I shorten it to The NU in 2008 when I first launched NeckarUnrivaled.com (oddly thenu.com was taken).
Behind The NU
Behind the online persona, is 28-year-old Richard Arellano; I’m an online gamer, self-taught web and graphic designer living form pay-check to pay-check. I enjoy writing, watching movies and long walks on the beach. My passion is just bettering myself. I’m in a fight to lose weight as I am well over 300lbs. While not the focus of my blog; I tend to talk about it sometimes. I’m the former webmaster of a number of websites, many I either created myself or co-owned/partner with.
As of 2010 I run NeckarUnrivaled.com solo; I am working on going to school hopefully next year and plan to start a someday a weekly podcast about gaming, movies and who knows what else. I also plan on writing a book someday and hopefully my dream to write an epic movie like Lord of the Rings, StarWars, etc.
